Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a Montessori based religion program offering a hands-on approach to catechesis. All materials in the atrium have been carefully crafted by the catechists who have undergone extensive training in order to best serve your child. Children in Level I atrium (ages 3-6) will learn about the infancy narratives, experience a taste of the liturgical life of the Church, understand the geography of the land of Israel, as well as the major parables in Holy Scripture. All lessons are taught one-on-one or in a small group of children.
Children in the Level II atrium (grades 1-3) begin putting themselves in time, in God’s time, and understanding how He created everything in the world. These children will also begin a strong moral formation, stemming from the parables, as well as the Great Commandment and sayings and example of Jesus in Scripture. The geography of the land of Israel is also expanded upon and the Bible takes on a whole new focus in Level II. Specific sacramental preparation, a greater understanding of the Mass, and days of retreat, prepare our children to receive Jesus for the first time in Holy Communion. The Level III atrium is for our students in grades 4-6.
